More than just a spa, Rock Spa at Hard Rock Hotel Marbella fuses the essence of rock with indulgent spa treatments, where music becomes the protagonist, including the immersive experience of the Synchronicity massage to the refreshing Face the Music, which fuses the vibration of sound with quality organic ingredients.

Hard Rock Hotel Marbella presents its exclusive Rock Spa, a sanctuary of serenity and revitalisation that promises to pamper, soothe and recharge, with new facilities and carefully designed treatments.

You can read The Luxury Editor profile review of Hard Rock Hotel Marbella here.

Since its foundation, Hard Rock Hotels has excelled in providing guests with unique and unforgettable experiences, fusing a passion for music with luxury and hospitality. The Rock Spa concept was born with the vision of providing guests with a wellness experience that goes beyond the conventional. With more than 20 Hard Rock hotels around the world, the brand has expanded globally, bringing the unique essence of Rock Spa to multiple destinations. Today, the majority of these distinguished Hard Rock Hotels feature exclusive spa services, providing guests with a haven of relaxation inspired by the rock and roll philosophy.

The Rock Spa Marbella offers two rooms for massages, body treatments and facials, as well as a spacious couple’s suite with two massage tables. In addition, visitors have exclusive access to the water circuit area, offering the possibility to experience wellness with counter-current swimming, as well as a steam room and sauna.

Beyond simply being a spa, this new space fuses the essence of rock with indulgent spa practices, creating a unique balance between the vibrant spirit of music and the serenity of wellness. “We invite all those seeking an authentic experience to explore Rock Spa and discover a haven where relaxation meets authenticity,” suggests Ignacio Gómez-Escolar, General Manager of Hard Rock Hotel Marbella.

‘Rhythm & Motion’

Within its range of treatments, the hotel introduces an innovation in the field of wellness with “Rhythm & Motion”. This revolutionary concept, exclusive to Rock Spa, provides an immersive experience through vibrations amplified by a musical bell, applying pressures and sequences as fundamental elements.

At Hard Rock Hotel Marbella, four types of massages are currently offered that incorporate this technique, fusing music and exclusive technology from Rock Spa. One of them is Synchronicity, a massage that combines a carefully selected soundtrack with massage techniques. The precise integration of each note and rhythm, in sync with the massage, creates a multi-sensory relaxation experience that redefines traditional standards of well-being. On the other hand, Face the Music is a designed facial rejuvenation treatment that fuses the therapeutic benefits of sound vibration with clinically proven organic products, providing an experience totally different to conventional facial care methods. Smooth Operator and Wrap Remix are the two available body massage options using the Rhythm & Motion technique.

Fusion of Wellness and Entertainment

Hard Rock Hotel Marbella continues to redefine the concept of hospitality, offering experiences that combine the best of wellness at Rock Spa with other hotel highlights. For example, the innovative proposal of the Rock Spa + healthy breakfast in their Sessions buffet stands out.

One of the finest hotels in the world, Claridges is a sparkling jewel of a property, found in the heart of solubrious. But up till now, the high-end brand had lacked a spa. Now, a (literally) groundbreaking project that has seen teams of experts excavate five floors into the London clay, has changed all of that. And it paves the way for the next 200 years of Claridge’s life.

An epicentre of wellness

Located three floors down and spanning 7,000 square feet, this subterranean haven of wellness and tranquillity accommodates the hotel’s first-ever swimming pool, steam rooms and a sauna. Seven treatment rooms showcase healing rituals using a knowledge of restorative bodywork and the latest bio-innovation to amplify emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing; a best-in-class list of resident brands include Josh Wood, Augustinus Bader and FaceGym, and a roster of visiting wellness masters, such as nail artist Harriet Westmoreland and acupuncturist Ross J. Barr. Of course, you can expect the space and service to be signature five-star Claridge’s, with touches of its classic and iconic timeless glamour.

Read our guide to the best luxury hotels in Mayfair

Design inspiration from the East

Interior architect Andre Fu has created the space, which begins with a monochrome lobby leading to a sensorial space of calm serenity, with sounds of flowing water, a visual play of light and shadow, and energy-cleansing music. Fu’s design has been inspired by his own visits to traditional Japanese temples and Zen gardens in Kyoto; as such the venue incorporates natural elements including limestone, wood and water. The heated swimming pool is the spa’s centrepiece, framed by a striking, multi-vaulted ceiling and stone columns and flanked by cabanas. En-suite treatment rooms are oak panelled, with each ritual personalised to the individual, inspired by the ancient concept of omakase (‘leaving another to decide what is best’).  And finally, the hair and beauty space is Josh Wood at Claridge’s, with the renowned British hair colour expert bringing his hand-picked dream team of A-list stylists to the hotel.

Treating guests from head to toe

On arrival, guests are presented with kimonos in soft pinks and peaches, and a welcoming foot ceremony that washes away the outside world. Scented water and enzyme-rich koji soften and smooth the skin while pressure points are applied to unlock tension and encourage circulation. Inspired by temple Koh-do ceremonies, a  choice of incense is presented to the guest pre-treatment to help to cleanse the mind and aid relaxation. The sound of bells marks the end of treatments…

Signature rituals

The Bamboo & Silk Ritual (90 minutes) is a total mind and body immersion comprising a trilogy of body and hand massage techniques and nurturing silk facial. An invigorating body massage with warmed bamboo sticks works deep into the muscles, stretching and releasing tension while harnessing the powerful healing benefits of heat combined with seasonal herbs within hot oil-infused poultices which are made daily by Claridge’s therapists using seasonal ingredients. This is followed by a deep hand massage and a nurturing facial practised with silk fingertip thimbles – these hydrate and replenish the skin’s barrier, while mini-poultices on the face and decolletage pressure points calm the mind, so you feel fully restored and rested.

The Body Detox & Sculpt (75 minutes) is a transformative sculpting treatment. Beginning with 30 minutes inside the UK’s first MLX i3Dome, your body undergoes a detox with FIR-technology to activate tissue metabolism and stimulate cellular communication and repair. A fusion of cinnamon, white turmeric and ginger is applied to the body whilst an anti-ageing fire-and-ice korugi face massage revives the skin. A unique combination of sculpting and lymphatic techniques with cooling intervals using cold towels and ice globes firms and lifts facial contours. The body is then cooled with ice-cold towels, or an optional shower, with the ritual completed by a powerful sculpting and lymphatic drainage body massage.

Holistic and results-driven

Maybourne Hotel Group’s Creative Director of Spa and Wellness (the Facegym founder and ex Spa Junkie columnist for the Financial Times) Inge Theron says of the launch, ‘We have created a spa here at Claridge’s where guests will find both holistic practices and results-driven high-tech all under one roof. Claridge’s has long been a temple of good living with a philosophy of enjoying life to the full, and so now, as well as pouring guests the perfect martini, we can also rejuvenate and restore with the perfect treatment, to strike that all-important balance. The Claridge’s Spa service style is inspired by and reflects this great, legendary hotel. The attention to detail that has been in place here for centuries – the way we steep our tea, the way we make our beds – is reflected in this new space, from handmade poultices made daily by our team with the seasonal ingredient, to the way our saunas are complete with star-like twinkling lights, and silk thimbles are used by our incredible therapists for exfoliation during facials. Claridge’s Spa is the very beginning of a new wellness journey for Maybourne Hotel Group.’

Claridge’s Spa is open to both hotel and outside guests, every day from 8 am-9 pm.

Our Spa Experience

The spa is located at The Cameron Club which is a short car journey from the main hotel complex. We arrived at 12pm and were checked in, given towels, robes and flip-flops and lead upstairs to the main spa floor and shown into the changing rooms. The spa experience takes around 2 hours to complete, and if you add on massages or other treatments it would take around 3 hours.

The spa offers a wide variety of treatments, and packages using ESPA and Made for Life Organics products, and the state-of-the-art spa facilities mean there is something for everyone. You can see the full list of spa treatments here.

Set over three floors we started on the middle floor which offers a sensory thermal water journey complete with a hydro pool, experience showers and various different heated dry and wet chambers, including a Tepidarium, Caldariu, Sauna, and Infrared Suna, Hammam and Aromatherapy room which you progressively work your way around.

After a very relaxing hour, we made our way down to the ground floor which is where the 20m pool is as well as another jacuzzi.

Following a swim, we made our way up to the rooftop and this is the pise de resistance of the spa – The rooftop infinity pool, where you can sit in the heated pool, turn on the bubbles and relax in the warm waters looking out to views over the golf course and beautiful Scottish scenery beyond that it really is a magical experience.

Lunch

Time flies when you are relaxing and before we knew it, it was time for lunch! So we made our way to the Café Spa which you can access from the ground floor of the spa.

The cafe spa menu offers a condensed selection of tasty options which are suitable for vegetarians as well.

We started with the soup of the day, which was a gloriously rich tomato soup.

We then moved into mains, I went for the risotto and my dad had the salmon. Both of which were incredibly delicious.

Now we were told by the waitress you can’t come to the cafe and not have the Cameron House frozen hot chocolate and wow was she right. This was one of the best desserts I have had for a while. rich and indulgent this heavy chocolate dessert is a cross between ice cream and a cake and to top it off a generous portion of hot chocolate sauce accompanies it for anyone with an extra sweet tooth.

We complimented t with a Sticky Toffee Pudding and ice cream which you can’t go wrong with!

After that, we sat back with a coffee and thought about what a great day we had just had!

All Fathers Day Activities

We experienced their spa day with lunch, but the hotel has created a range of fathers day experiences taking in different aspects of the hotel’s exciting offerings. You can see the additional packages below.

  • Whisky Tasting Experience – Enjoy a classic whisky tasting in the exceptional Great Scots Bar. Surrounded by famous Scots past and present who adorn the walls, the expert bar team will take guests through a tasting to uncover the breadth of flavour from the five distilling regions of Scotland, explaining the heritage, craftsmanship and flavour profile behind each dram (from £65PP).
  • Craft Beer or Cocktail Experience – Alternatively, enjoy craft beer tastings in The Tavern Bar sampling the latest and greatest from Scottish and UK breweries (from £25PP), or shake up a serve with dad at a Cocktail Masterclass in the stunning Lobby Bar, where guests will learn how to make three signature cocktails from its grand marble-top bar (from £65PP).
  • Father’s Day Dining – Overlooking the marina and Loch Lomond, the Boat House restaurant is offering incredible views with a showstopping Father’s Day seafood platter for all the family, inspired by the best local and freshest seasonal produce from Scotland’s shores (from £120 for two). Or enjoy a charming get-together at the heart of the hotel in the Cameron Grill for a Tomahawk steak dining experience; a tender cut served with confit tomatoes, mushrooms, and a choice of sauce and French fries (from £35 supplement).
  • Father’s Day Golf – Tee off and enjoy a round on the resort’s Championship golf course, the Carrick. Surrounded by 400 acres of beautiful Scottish countryside, it’s a memorable experience for golfers of all abilities (from £45PP). Afterwards, head to The Clubhouse for a hearty Father’s Day special platter including honey glazed loin bacon, charred chicken & pepper skewers, Cumberland sausage, grilled corn, fried egg, mushrooms, tomatoes and potato wedges (from £20PP).

Aire Ancient Baths includes a circuit of candle lit pools of different temperatures, as well as a massage area, relaxation area, a steam room, spa pools with jets and even an ancient bath where you can bath in wine, writes Andrew Forbes (The Luxury Editor).

The experts at Aire are able to curate experiences that reflect your preferences and the occasion. The place is quite extraordinary, found in a magnificent Mudéjar-style palace that embraces more than 5 centuries of history.

We chose to enjoy the thermal baths circuit, a 30 minute massage following by a romantic time of relaxation in the heated pool on the rooftop, enjoying cava and chocolates, whilst taking in the spectacular view of the La Giralda, Seville’s iconic cathedral bell tower that’s so evocative of Al Andalus and Southern Spain’s past.

This is a truly original and remarkable spa experience. The setting is magical, the style relaxed, calming, and unpretentious.

One of my favourite experiences was the underground saltwater pool, where you can float unaided – it’s just the most amazing feeling!

For something truly original there is an ancient marble bath where you and your partner can soak in a bath of ‘wine,’ whilst enjoying a glass of wine and a selection of cheese – in a private, candle lit room. How romantic is that?
